The Men’s Golf Association (MGA) at The Quail Scholars’ Cup program continues to enhance educational opportunities for qualified students from throughout Monterey County.
Since the first scholarship was awarded in 2009, the program has presented 153 scholarships valued at over $600,00 to 89 students. Thirteen 2025 high school seniors earned scholarships, and 18 existing scholars qualified for a renewal as they continue their college careers. Many of the recipients are the first member of their family to attend college.
The Scholars’ Cup also supports technical and vocational education through an annual grant to the Rancho Cielo Youth Campus in Salinas. Scholarship funds are donated by members of The Quail and community sponsors and applicants are evaluated for academic performance, school and community service, financial need and involvement in golf. Donations from anyone supporting the vision of enhancing educational opportunities are welcomed.
The Community Foundation for Monterey County (CFMC) administers the scholarships through the MGA at The Quail Community Impact Fund (MGA2). You can donate directly and securely online here or send a check made payable to “Community Foundation for Monterey County” with MGA2 in the memo line. Please contact Brian Thayer, CFMC Senior Philanthropic Services Officer at (831) 375-9712 x144 with any questions. The CFMC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Tax ID #94-1615897.
